Abstract:

Five cross-sectional population surveys (1972, 1977, 1982, 1987 and 1992 (assessed the levels of CHD risk factors in two eastern provinces, North Karelia and Kuopio. The aim of the paper is to describe cardiovascular risk factor changes over 20 years (1972-1992) in North Karelia an in other areas of Finland where similar population surveys have been done. Particular emphasis is placed on assessing the amintenance and long-term changes in North Karelia, as well as national trends.
