Abstract:

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and coronary heart diseases (CHD) are major causes of mortality and morbidity in the world. Statistics from Finland showed that CVD rates were higher in the east than in the west. A 10 years project, started in 1972 in the North Karelia Province in Finland for control of CVD and CDH, is analyzed and assessed.
