Abstract:

Chapter Thirteen of the PAHO Book "Natural Disasters: Protecting the Public's Health" presents information about different agencies that provide international assistance- when resources or skills are not available locally. When disaster strikes, many agencies, associations, groups, and governments offer humanitarian assistance to countries affected by natural disasters. The Chapter informs about the activities of different Humanitarian agencies, both governmental and NGOs, the Armed Forces, UN agencies, regional agencies, among many others.
