Abstract:

Effective management of health relief requires access to and control of adequate transport and communication. Chapter Eleven of the PAHO Book "Natural Disasters: Protecting the Public's Health" deals with disaster management in aspects concerning telecommunication (radio communication, radio paging, terrestrial and satellite telecommunication) and transportation (logistic support, inventory, possible sources for transportation in a natural disaster).
