Abstract:
The study reported in this article deals with the observed actions of prospective Swedish mathematics teachers as they were working with a modelling situation. These prospective teachers were preparing to teach in Grades four to nine or in the gymnasium (Grades 10 to 12) and were students on a course in mathematical modelling. The way the students tackled the modelling situation, their strategies and attitudes are discussed as well as the difficulties in assessing mathematical modelling performance.Document Type: Research article
