Abstract:The most recent data on the stock of foreigners in Belgium are from 31 December 2009, when the foreign population of 1.06 million represented 9.8% of the total population of Belgium. At the same date, the foreign‐born population was 1.5 million (14% of the total population). Since 2008, the principal country of origin of the foreign‐born has been Morocco, followed by France, the Netherlands and Italy.
