The introductory session provided an overview of the labour market outcomes of the children of immigrants across the OECD, based on new data collected by the OECD Secretariat. The first session looked at the main determinants of educational and labour market outcomes of
the children of migrants, with two presentations contrasting the situation in European OECD countries (based on new data from the project "The Integration of the European Second Generation") and North America, followed by discussion of the implications of these
findings. The session also included a brief presentation of the main findings of the OECD work on the school‐to‐work transition. It ended with a discussion of the impact of labour market institutions and characteristics on integration.
