Abstract:In 2008, 37 500 permanent residence permits were granted in Denmark, an increase of 42% compared to 2007. 60% of permanent permits were granted on the basis of free movement, 16% for family reasons and another 16% for economic reasons. These figures are based on ex post analysis of persons who entered in a given year and stayed for at least 12months. The number of international students increased by 23% to 7 400. Compared to 2000 this is a raise of 76%.
