Increasing Productivity and Improving Market Access
Abstract:Successful pro‐poor growth strategies led by agriculture depend on increased agricultural sector productivity and improved access to domestic, regional and global markets. But there is potential for further production unit ‐ based productivity growth, which has not been fully exploited under existing policy and market arrangements. Harnessing this potential will immediately improve conditions for poor rural households ‐ either directly through market prices or indirectly through labour markets.
