Abstract:

Since 1998, the OECD has been reviewing the progress of regulatory reform in its Member countries. These reviews are prepared by the OECD Secretariat and examined by delegates from all Member countries. The final product, however, remains under the responsibility of the Secretariat and does not necessarily represent the views of any OECD Member country. Competition policy is one of several areas under review in each country. Hungary was reviewed under the regulatory reform programme in 1999. The entire report, including this chapter, is to be published by the OECD by July 2000 under the title, "Regulatory Reform in Hungary.” This chapter was prepared by Michael O. Wise as part of the consultative, multidisciplinary process described above.
