Abstract:

Habitat fragmentation has a substantial impact on animals at many levels of ecology, including genetics, behaviour, demographics, and biodiversity. Despite a flood of research articles on habitat fragmentation in recent decades, there are still serious gaps in our knowledge that stem, in part, from inadequate experimental design and inconsistent methodology. The papers in this special series highlight the many challenges of designing robust studies to understand fragmentation impacts at the landscape scale and offer practical solutions.
