Abstract:

Discusses General Electric (GE) and the way it has adapted and implemented strategy to changing market-place conditions. Elaborates on GE's origination from the Edison Electric Light Company set up by Thomas Edison in 1878. Shows how entrepreneurial leadership has helped the company to stimulate growth. States high technology and technical service businesses were central to GE's growth objectives; both businesses were elevated to sector level.
