Abstract:

The past five years have seen irreversible changes in the computer and information industries. The last COMDEX trade show (Fall, 2002) reflects the emphasis on next-generation computer technology, DIY setting-up systems with consequent lower pay for the professionals, globalization, lower return on investment, stifling of innovation and creativity - all adding up to a depressing future for the industry.
