Abstract:

Purpose â–“ To provide a greater understanding of how technology can be utilized in the classroom and in relationships between teachers, students, parents, counselors, school board members and others in the community involved in the school district mission and activities. Design methodology/approach â–“ To examine and test ways that barriers can be reduced for post-secondary opportunities for rural underserved students through the uses of technology. Findings â–“ Four major technologies were instrumental in the Project: LinkWorld, Mobile Learning Labs, Online Modules and Videoconferences, each used to achieve different ways to offer information and services to students at different sites. Originality/value â–“ For underserved students, the choices to go on for vocational training and post-secondary schooling, access to technology, for purposes of student assessment, counseling, opportunities, interview skills, testing, academic achievement is critical for successful transitions. The technology products and interfaces that were created as part of this project lead students and teachers to better preparation and ways to bridge information and technology gaps.
