Abstract:

This paper presents the results of an investigation into the demographic and background information of trainee librarians in two Nigerian universities. The survey was conducted through questionnaire. Contrary to what is obtained in advanced countries data analysis revealed that male trainees dominate the profession. The trainees composed of more young adults with a median age of 28 years. Over 90 percent of them had first degrees mostly in education and humanities. 50 percent of the trainees were already in employment and on scholarship.
