Abstract:

A seminar on this subject was held with senior industrialists and managers at the Institute of Directors in London to outline to leaders in industry and commerce the work that BTEC is carrying out to increase the effectiveness of their management through its Certificate in Management Studies (CMS), introduced in 1979. It is a flexible, essentially practical course with the emphasis on developing skills which managers need to manage on a daily basis. Industry, commerce and education need to work together to provide the necessary training and challenge for the managers of tomorrow, and BTEC intends to act as the bridgehead to allow this ideal to be achieved.
