Abstract:
This detailed comparison of the eucharistic prayer in the so-called Apostolic Tradition of Hippolytus with the Roman Canon of the Mass argues not only that the former is unlike any other known Western eucharistic prayers but that it bears the marks of belonging instead to the family of West Syrian anaphoras and therefore of having originated in that part of the world. Keywords: APOSTOLIC TRADITION; HIPPOLYTUS; EUCHARISTIC PRAYER; ROMAN CANON; BRADSHAW
