Abstract:
A series of welds were fabricated in mild (ASTM A36) steel. The first pass was the entire length of the plate and each subsequent pass was indented ∼25 mm. This allowed us to determine the change in hardness on a pass by pass basis by mapping the hardness over each weld pass. Keywords: HARDNESS MAPS; MILD STEEL A36; TEMPERING; SOFTENING; GAS METAL ARC WELDING
