Abstract:

The opposite page carries a specimen of the Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland new 1 : 50,000 Map Series, the first sheet of which—Sheet 9, Ballymenaj Larne—was published in 1978. At least three sheets per annum will be published over the next few years and it is planned to complete the 18 sheets necessary to cover all of Northern Ireland by 1984. In the meantime the existing 1″ to 1 mile (Third Series) will continue to be available until it has been completely superseded by the new series.
