Abstract:

Within plastic surgery, post-mastectomy breast reconstruction is not the only area that may positively influence the course of a patient's suffering. Documentation of significant improvements in psychosocial well-being and the relief of patient suffering helps physicians and health policy leaders advocate for third-party coverage of reconstructive procedures. Future research efforts must continue to document quality-of-life outcomes associated with reconstructive plastic surgery.
