Abstract:

Improvements in control systems technology and datalogging have allowed improved dynamic control of the factors affecting strip flatness and quality. Modern automatic flatness control systems for aluminium cold and foil mills have the potential to increase productivity and reduce energy consumption significantly. The contribution of coolant spray control to these objectives is summarised.
