Abstract:

Magnesium offers significant weight savings over competitor structural materials but also technical challenges, solutions to which in some cases requires improved fundamental understanding. An overview of research on the forming, joining and corrosion protection of magnesium for structural applications is given, with a focus on work at the University of Manchester.
