Abstract:

The grain boundary segregation isotherms of several elements were recorded by Misra (R. D. K. Misra: Surf. Inter. Anal., 2001, 31, (7), 509-521.) at 853 and 883 K on 2·6NiCrMoV low alloy steel. It is of interest that parallel kinetics of segregation and simultaneous concentration maximum of Ni and Sn at grain boundaries were observed during isothermal process. In the present article, the phenomenon will be analysed, from which the authors conclude that non-equilibrium grain boundary cosegregation of Ni and Sn occurs in 2·6NiCrMoV steel.
