Abstract:
A recent publication reported a power law relationship for maximum precipitate density in the copper rich Cu–Co alloy system, expressed as a function of the maximum nucleation rate and the solute diffusion coefficient. In the present paper, it is shown that a similar relationship holds in the aluminium rich Al–Sc alloy system, and two general, closed form solutions are derived from first principles. Keywords: AL-SC ALLOYS; CU-CO ALLOYS; PRECIPITATION KINETICS; NUCLEATION
