Abstract:

In this study, 304 stainless steel coatings were sprayed on the interstitial free steel substrate by cold gas dynamic spraying. After annealing treatment, they were cold rolled. The deformation behaviours of the as sprayed 304SS coating and annealed coating in the cold rolling process were investigated. The results showed that annealing treatment had a great contribution to the healing-up of the incomplete interfaces between the deposited particles. Both of the microstructure and the mechanical properties have been obviously optimised by annealing treatment. In addition, the rolling deformation behaviour of the coatings also revealed that annealing treatment changed the deformation behaviour of the cold sprayed 304 stainless steel coating from brittle type to plastic type. The annealed coating showed a well deformation coordinate ability with the substrate during the cold rolling process.
