Abstract:
Nanocrystalline Fe50Ni50 alloy was successfully prepared by the mechanical alloying process using planetary high energy ball mill. Fe and Ni elemental powder were milled for various times up to 48 h. The alloy formation and its physical properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis. The magnetic properties of the alloy were determined by alternating gradient magnetometer (AGM). Mechanical treatment influenced the physical properties of the alloys by decreasing the crystallite size from 132·21 to 15·08 nm. Results of AGM indicated that the alloying process influenced the magnetic properties of the materials. Keywords: Fe-NI ALLOY; MECHANICAL ALLOYING; NANOSTRUCTURE; MAGNETIC MEASUREMENT
