Abstract:

In this paper, nanostructured ZnO has been grown on SiO2 using sol–gel method. The pH value has been differed to study its effect on the physical and optical properties of nanostructured ZnO. The physical properties have been characterised using SEM and XRD while the optical properties were characterised using a photoluminescence spectrophotometer. The results show that different pH values would produce different surface morphologies and optical properties. The growth mechanism of nanostructured ZnO will be explained in detail.
