Abstract:

The paper presents model testing of flow phenomena during first phase of die casting process. The main model for this phase cold Gerber's model was presented. Preparation of the experiments and description of special laboratory station constructed for model testing of this process phase were presented. Obtained results were processed by statistical analysis and the fundamental Garber's model was modified and extended further to include the coefficient of liquid metal viscosity. Finally conclusions about influence: plunger velocity, liquid metal viscosity and squeeze chamber filling ratio on air occlusion were described and illustrated by pictures.
