Abstract:
Glycol methacrylate (GMA) plastic embedding medium is now widely used in the histological preparation of bone biopsies because it affords better morphological detail and the ability to study undecalcified bone tissue. There are often problems with poor or incomplete polymerization and improper orientation. These problems can be corrected by reembedding the intact block as opposed to totally reprocessing the tissue. The same technique can be used to improve the orientation of improperly embedded lipomas, skin biopsies, and cell cultures.
