Abstract:Myelin stains should be used routinely in the examination of all autopsied central nervous systems. Substantive modifications of a simple method which render the method aesthetically pleasing is reported. These modifications render the method even more reliable, consistently reproducible and time-saving than originally. The procedure is carried out on 12-micron sections cut from routine formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue. The standard technique for histiologic staining of paraffin-processed material in water-soluble dyes applies.
