Abstract:

Immunofluorescent anti-nuclear antibody tests combined with chessboard titration studies were used to compare tissue reactivity of standard frozen cryostat sections and freeze substituted tissues. Frozen sections of rat kidney were slightly more sensitive than freeze-substituted sections, but nuclear diffuse and speckled staining patterns were more easily discerned in the freeze-substituted tissues due to overall better preservation of tissue morphology.
