Performance limits of a real four-reservoir chemical potential transformer

Abstract:
A new cyclic model of a real four-reservoir chemical potential transformer with irreversible mass transfer, mass leakage and internal dissipation is put forward in this paper. The maximum coefficient of performance and the corresponding rate of energy pumping, as well as the maximum rate of energy pumping and the corresponding coefficient of performance are obtained. Moreover, the influences of the ratios chemical potentials of the reservoirs on the optimal performance limits of the chemical potential transformer are revealed. The results obtained herein can provide some new theoretical guidelines for the optimal design and development of a class of chemical potential transformers.Keywords: FINITE TIME THERMODYNAMICS; FOUR-RESERVOIR CHEMICAL POTENTIAL TRANSFORMER; PERFORMANCE LIMIT
