Performance optimisation of open cycle intercooled gas turbine power plant with pressure drop irreversibilities

Abstract:The thermodynamic performance of an open cycle intercooled gas turbine power plant with pressure drop irreversibilities is optimised by adjusting the intercooling pressure ratio, the flow rate and the distribution of pressure losses along the flow path in the present paper. When the optimisation is performed with the constraints of a fixed fuel flow rate and the power plant size, the power output and efficiency can be maximised again by properly allocating the fixed overall flow area among the compressor inlet and the turbine outlet.
