Abstract:

Phase transformations in hypereutectic Ch3F12 and hypoeutectic Ch12MF4 tool alloys were studied by means of differential thermal analysis (DTA). Calculations of phase equilibria for Fe-Cr-V-C and Fe-Cr-V-Mo-C systems corresponding to the investigated alloys were carried out using the thermodynamic database program Thermo-Calc in the temperature range of 750-1700 K. Seven different equilibria consisting of five different phases (ferrite, austenite, liquid, M7C3 and MC) were determined for both alloys by means of thermodynamic calculations. There was found a good agreement between theoretical (temperatures between different equilibria) and experimental (temperatures of phase transformations) results.
