Abstract:
Liquidus temperatures in the system FeO–Fe2O3–SiO2–TiO2 at five oxygen pressures in the range 2 × 10−2 to 10−6 atmospheres have been measured for the iron oxide rich corner of the system. These data are presented on diagrams using %SiO2, %TiO2 and %(FeO; Fe2O3) to express the concentrations. Iso %Fe2O3/ %FeO ratio lines for 1500°C are given on the diagrams. The effect of SiO2 and TiO2 on the Fe3+ /Fe2+ ratio in the melts at 1500°C is discussed and the effect of TiO2 additions on the ratio is shown to be less than that of SiO2.Document Type: Research Article
