Abstract:
The anticorrosive behaviour of octadecylamine (ODA) films has been investigated via weight loss and electrochemical methods. Tests were conducted on specimens of carbon steel, brass, and austenitic stainless steel in the presence and absence of amine films. Inhibitor efficiency values in excess of 94·5% were obtained in this series of experiments. These results have been applied for the protection of boiler surfaces when out of service. For surfaces that were coated with ODA before lay up began, the optimum concentration of ODA for protection while out of surface was found to be 0·2 ppm.Document Type: Research Article
