Abstract:The two major observers who narrate the story of Wuthering Heights are contrasted; the urbane Mr Lockwood writing at leisure and the servant Nellie Dean talking unprepared. The differences in their attitudes, expectations and reactions are described. This contrasting 'duologue' gives the novel a hidden dynamic.
