Abstract:

The main characteristics of the socioeconomic development of Volga basin are given. Data on the use of water resources and the development of economic branches in the basin in 1980–2002 are analyzed. The dynamics of variations in the efficiency indices of water use in industry, agriculture and municipal economy in the upper, middle, and lower Volga.
