On the state of hydrogen arising during its melting at megabar pressures

Abstract:A model of quantum conducting liquid, which arises during melting of molecular hydrogen crystal under megabar pressures, is proposed. This model explains the melting of anomalous type, which was recently experimentally found. The model is based on the cell approximation, which takes into account the contribution of bound states. It is shown that this liquid can be in the metastable state with a density of about 2.3 g/cm3 and may remain in this state after removing pressure.
