Abstract:

Cells of Alcaligenes xylosoxidans containing N-carbamoyl-L-agr-amino acid amidohydrolase strictly distinguished the configuration of not only the agr-carbon but also the bgr-carbon of N-carbamoyl-bgr-methylphenylalanine, and produced threo-l-bgr-methylphenylalanine specifically from a mixture of the four stereoisomers.

Keywords: carbamoylase; diastereomeric amino acids; bgr-methylphenylalanine
