Flare Activity of Visual Binary COU 14
Source: Astrophysics and Space Science, Volume 261, Number 1-4, 1998 , pp. 95-100(6)
Abstract:Two flares with an amplitude of more than 0^m.3 each in B and V colours and another four with less amplitude in U band were detected during photometric and polarimetric monitoring of the nearby visual binary COU14. Irregular long term brightness and colour variations were registered while no significant polarization signal was detected. The variability is attributed to the secondary component whose photometric properties are similar to those of T Tau type stars. For the first time a T Tau type star has been found to be a member of a nearby binary system with well determined orbital parameters.
