Abstract:

Semi-crystalline fluorinated polymers represent an interesting class of high-performing, melt-processible materials. Structure–properties relationships are discussed at a molecular level starting from the atomic properties of the fluorine atom. Their synthesis and microstructure are reported in detail. Further focus is given to their thermal resistance, crystalline structure, mechanical and thermodynamic behaviour, as well as to some other miscellaneous properties. Finally, some main applications are briefly dealt with.
