Objective: To investigate the absorption and distribution of nano silver gel for external use in the rabbit body and to analyze whether the nano silver gel have the character of translocation and accumulation. Methods: Adult female New Zealand rabbits were injected with nano silver gel at 0.575 g · kg-1 · d-1 via vagina, and then they were sacrificed at predetermined time points after a period of treatment. The main organs of the experimental animals were harvested for silver content analysis by using the extra high pressure microwave and the atom absorption spectrum instrument. Results: Eight hours after the last dose administration, the nano silver content of test group were remarkably increase compared to the control group(P<0.05).The vagina was a main distribution organ of nano silver,in which the silver content was three times more than in others. The silver content in each organ significantly decreased after a week, and had not remarkable difference in each organ after 1 month and 3 months post-treatment compared to the control groups(P>0.05). Conclusion: The nano silver gel can move through the blood circulation system and distribute in liver, kidney, spleen, womb and vagina etc.Under the condition of adopting 5 times clinical doses after a period of treatment, the nano silver gel has not obviously accumulation in these organs after a month. It still need further study to investigate the nano silver gel about the state in body, the way into blood system, and the influence to cells.
