Abstract:

Castleton State College (Vermont) launched a pilot of the American Democracy Project (ADP) in the fall of 2004. To gauge changes among ADP students, participants in the pilot project were assessed along with a control group of Non-ADP students. This report details the results of the pre and post-assessment of the ADP students as well as the results of the comparison between ADP and non-ADP students on the post-assessment. The report discusses several statistically significant results and offers some interpretation for future efforts to promote student civic engagement.
