Abstract:

Diagnosis and treatment of stress fractures requires a high index of suspicion on the part of the physician. Insight into the multifactorial contributing factors is required. A team approach to management, including efforts to identify and correct technical faults and muscular weakness, in conjunction with appropriate nutritional counseling optimizes the dancer's likelihood of returning to performance faster and with fewer complications and minimizes the likelihood of re-injury.
