Abstract:

In this month's column, we detour from our usual sample tracer scenario format to look at how Main Line Health, a system headquartered in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, has used tracers over the past five years. Mary McKay, system director, Regulatory Affairs and Nursing Quality at Main Line Health, discusses how her hospital system uses tracer teams to conduct program-specific and unit-based tracers and suggests tips on how other health care organizations can use tracers effectively. This article includes a Main Line Health Tracer Worksheet example.
