Abstract:

Helping your staff become more familiar with Joint Commission standards and policies doesn't always have to involve formal class sessions or just reading the accreditation manual or through clicking through the E-dition. Leaders at Ohio Surgery Center, an ambulatory surgical facility in Columbus, Ohio, describe how they created games, puzzles, and other interesting strategies to help their staff learn about Joint Commission requirements and their organization's policies. The article includes example Jeopardy questions and an accreditation crossword puzzle.
