Abstract:

The Joint Commission recognizes that there are certain standards that consistently challenge even the best health care organizations; therefore, it is introducing a free, new resource exclusively for accredited organizations—the BoosterPak™. The first BoosterPak focuses on safe medication storage and Standard MM.03.01.01 for hospitals and critical access hospitals, and will be posted on hospitals' and critical access hospitals' Extranet by late November. A BoosterPak is a searchable, online document that provides detailed information about a single standard or topic that has been associated with a high volume of inquiries or noncompliance scores in the field. The article describes the contents of the BoosterPak and how it should be used by accredited hospitals and critical access hospitals.
