Abstract:

Ineffective communication between care providers and patients represents a great threat to patient safety today. No patient safety initiative can be complete without a major sustained focus on communication effectiveness between health care providers and patients. The role of health care providers is to care, explain and advise, and when possible, cure. The work involves treating health problems and promoting health, with the goal of optimizing the patient's quality of life.
