Abstract:

Nearly everyone who works around Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has heard the stories and seen the pictures of preventable accidents in the MRI suite: the unscreened patient who made it into the room with the contraindicated spinal shunt or the patient wheeled in on a steel gurney. Many safety experts believe that a principle factor in the failure to proactively address safety issues in the MRI suite is an underestimation of the risks. This article provides various approaches to MRI safety as well as tips for identifying and solving potential risks.
